Gunchohavanna

Gunchohavanna is a proudly African creative brand born in Kenya and fueled by an infinite passion for art, storytelling, and bold self-expression. What began as a movement to empower Kenyan writers, poets, and artists through creative writing and publishing has grown into a powerful cultural force reaching across the continent. From raw spoken word to striking cultural visuals, we create art that moves people, shapes conversations, and defines moments. We nurture emerging and established creatives, providing platforms that amplify authentic African voices and stories.

Now expanding beyond Kenya into countries like Ghana and Nigeria, Gunchohavanna is evolving from a national movement into a pan-African creative community, connecting talents, cultures, and narratives across borders.

Join our vibrant network where creativity meets purpose, and where African stories are written, spoken, and seen by the world.

NEW PROJECT!!!!

An Anthology of Political Poetry and Short Stories

Editor’s Note,

Shackles and Scars emerge from the trembling places where memory meets resistance, and where storytelling becomes both a wound and a weapon. This anthology, published under Gunchohavanna Africa, gathers voices unafraid to confront the splinters of our political, cultural, and social realities. In these poems and stories, the writers peel back the layers of authority, power, identity, and survival revealing not only the fractures of our nations, but the enduring resilience of those who dare to speak.

The works in this collection do more than narrate; they question, unsettle, accuse, and illuminate. They challenge the systems that create inequality, expose the quiet terrors hidden in everyday life, and celebrate the unyielding power of truth. Whether in satire, allegory, realism, or psychological horror, each writer offers a mirror sometimes cracked, sometimes clear reflecting the scars we carry and the shackles we strive to break.

May these pages move you, challenge you, and remind you that art, at its core, remains one of the most powerful forms of resistance.
